Why Join One of Our Photography Workshop Tours

Mount Fuji - Japan

There are photography workshops—and then there are photography workshop experiences. At John Armytage Photography, we’re all about making sure you don’t just come along for a tour—you walk away with skills, confidence, friendships, and (most importantly) some absolute cracker images.

So, what sets us apart from the rest? Let’s dive in.

Personal Attention in the Field

Midnorth Coast

When you join one of our tours, you’re never just another number in the group. We take the time to work with you one-on-one—helping you find that perfect composition, checking your camera settings, adjusting the height of your tripod, and making sure you’re using the right focal length.

Not sure when to use filters? No worries—we’ll guide you step by step using the NiSi Filter System. Struggling with sharp focus? We’ll walk you through manual focus. Want to capture a scene as-is, stretch out a dreamy long exposure, or add some movement to your image? We’ll ask you directly what type of shot you want to achieve and then show you exactly how to nail it.

Learning to See the Light

Glenorchy Jetty - New Zealand

Photography is all about timing—and we’ll teach you how to wait for the moment when the light enhances the subject in front of you. From identifying the point of interest to finding natural leading lines, you’ll quickly learn how to build stronger, more impactful images.

The best part? We take you to locations we’ve scouted and photographed ourselves—places we know will deliver incredible opportunities. Your success is our priority.

Fun, Learning, and Inspiration

Western Australia

Our workshops aren’t just about pressing the shutter. They’re about Fun, Learning, and Inspiring one another. We keep the atmosphere relaxed and friendly, so you’ll feel comfortable asking questions and trying new techniques.

We also create a private WhatsApp group for every workshop. It’s a place to share photos, ask questions, and continue learning long after the trip is over. Many of our past participants have stayed connected this way, by uploading edited images and asking us on ways to improve if it is needed—and it’s a fantastic way to keep the inspiration flowing.

Exclusive Gear Discounts

As official resellers of NiSi Filters, Summit Creative Bags, and Leofoto Tripods, we’re able to offer attendees exclusive discounts on top-quality gear. Not only will you learn how to use these tools in the field—you’ll also have the chance to get them for less.
