Embark on an extraordinary photography workshop along the picturesque Mid North Coast of New South Wales. Over four days and three nights, you’ll work side‑by‑side with two expert instructors — Port Macquarie Photographer John Armytage & Craig Williams — in a relaxed, hands‑on environment. Whether you’re a beginner hoping to sharpen your skills or an experienced shooter seeking fresh inspiration, this small‑group workshop delivers. Capped at only 8pp.

  • Location‑driven itinerary: We move with the light, capturing sunrise at lakes, headland shoots, and sunset sessions that take full advantage of coastal drama.

  • Unique meals & experience: A lakeside BBQ breakfast, and a sunset BBQ dinner at Bago Bluff with drinks included, deepen the experience beyond just photography.

  • Carpooling available: We’ll travel together to shooting locations for convenience, camaraderie, and less stress. You can use your vehicle if you wish to.

  • Professional instruction: From composition to exposure, long‑exposure techniques to creative lighting, you benefit from two instructors sharing their experience in real time.

Workshop Details

  • Dates: Feb 12–15, 2026

  • Duration: 4 days / 3 nights - Workshop commences 3pm on Thursday 12th & Concludes after Sunrise on the 15th.

  • Group Size: Maximum 8 participants (minimum 3 to run)

  • Investment: AU $1,695 per person - $100 Discount to Focus Plus Members

  • Deposit: $500 secures your spot; balance due 60 days prior to workshop

  • Included:

    • Guided sunrise & sunset shoots at known locations at the right tide.

    • BBQ breakfast at Queens Lake

    • BBQ dinner including (Wine/Beer/Soft Drinks) at Bago Bluff Lookout

    • Carpooling to all locations (optional)

    • On‑location mentoring with two professional instructors

  • Not Included:

    • Accommodation (see recommended below)

    • Entry fee for Billabong Zoo (participants pay individually) - $45.00pp

    • Other meals and personal expenses

    What You’ll Photograph

    We’ll explore a diverse range of locations to give you a strong, varied portfolio:

    • Sunset shoot at Town Beach and the rock platforms of Port Macquarie

    • Sunrise over Queens Lake with reflections and soft morning light

    • Daytime vista at Middle Brother Lookout overlooking the hinterland

    • Long‑exposure jetty shoot at Lakewood Jetty

    • Rock & waterfall seascape at Oxley Beach (rock shoes/spikes recommended)

    • Wildlife photography session at Billabong Zoo (optional Meerkat encounters available, have to book)

    • Vineyard & maze photography at Bago Maze/Winery, and a stunning sunset from Bago Bluff Lookout

    • Final sunrise at Little Bay Beach & Tacking Point Lighthouse to round out the experience

Stay central in Port Macquarie for convenience. Here are some suggested options:

What to Bring & Practical Info

  • DSLR or mirrorless camera with wide, standard and telephoto lenses

  • Tripod (essential for long‑exposure work)

  • ND filter & polariser (highly recommended) - 6 Stop / 10 Stop - We have a couple of different filter systems that may work with your cameras if you don’t have.

  • Headlamp or torch for early morning shoots

  • Rock shoes with spikes (especially for Oxley Beach North) - Adrenalin Rockhopper High Cut Boots Rock Fishing Shoes

  • Weather‑ready clothing, hat, sunscreen, water bottle, umbrella.

  • Carpooling details and meeting points will be provided upon booking

Cancellations & Refunds

If you wish to cancel your booking, you must advise the same by email. Payments are refundable up to 30 days priorto the tour commencing. No refunds will be available after this period unless you are able to arrange a full paying substitute.

Responsibilities

John Armytage Photography Tours is not responsible for any loss of equipment, luggage, money, or medical treatment for injuries sustained whilst on tour. Participants are required to arrange their own travel and medical insurance.

John Armytage Photography Tours reserves the right to cancel any tour prior to commencement. In this case, all payments will be refunded in full, however we are not liable for any other trip preparation expenses.
