Award-winning photographers John Armytage and Craig Williams will guide you through the art of composition, lighting, and storytelling as you capture the region’s incredible seasonal beauty. Explore the Colours of New England

This workshop is timed perfectly to capture peak autumn colour in the highlands of northern NSW. You’ll spend your days photographing tree-lined avenues, historic chapels, rural farmlands, and dramatic waterfalls — all framed by fiery reds, burnt oranges, and golden yellows. Each location is carefully chosen to provide variety and inspiration while keeping travel distances comfortable.

Potential photography locations include:

  • Gostwyck Chapel – a historic stone church framed by towering elms

  • Ebor Falls & Wollomombi Falls – dramatic cascades surrounded by autumn tones

  • Elm Avenue, University of New England – one of Australia’s most photographed autumn streets

  • Armidale’s heritage churches and colourful boulevards

  • Rural landscapes around Guyra for wide-angle storytelling shots

  • Optional drone photography opportunities (weather and time permitting) 

Workshop Details:

  • Dates: 30 April – 3 May 2026

  • Duration: 4 days / 3 nights

  • Location: New England Tablelands, NSW

  • Group Size: Max 8 participants (minimum 4 required)

  • Fitness Level: Easy – short walks; suitable for all ages

  • Note: May in Armidale can be chilly, so warm clothing is essential.

Share the Experience

Photography is at the heart of this trip, but so is great food and good company. Breakfasts and dinners are booked at carefully chosen restaurants and cafés, while lunches remain flexible to allow more time in the field. Evenings are a chance to connect with fellow photographers, review your work, and enjoy the relaxed pace of country hospitality.

Accommodation & Pricing:

  • 3 nights twin-share accommodation at Alluna Motel, Armidale

  • Price: $1,695 AUD per person

  • Focus Plus Members: $1,595 AUD

  • Deposit: $500 AUD (refundable up to 30 days prior or if a replacement is found)

  • Balance Due: 23 March 2026

  • Not Included: Meals, insurance, and transport

Start & Finish:
Arrive at Alluna Motel, Armidale by 2:00 pm on Thursday, 30 April 2026.
Depart after 10:00 am on Sunday, 3 May 2026.
