Journey through some of Tasmania’s most remarkable landscapes on a seven-day photography adventure led by John Armytage and Craig Williams.

From the dramatic peaks and reflective alpine lakes of Cradle Mountain to the luminous coastline of the Bay of Fires and the ancient forests and waterfalls of Mount Field, each location has been carefully selected for its beauty and photographic potential.

With only six photographers, you’ll enjoy a relaxed pace, personalised guidance and plenty of time to explore each location. Whether you want to refine your technique, strengthen your compositions or simply return home with memorable images, John and Craig will support you throughout the journey.

From misty mountains and ancient forests to cascading waterfalls and luminous coastlines, this journey brings you to some of Tasmania’s most rewarding photography locations.

🏔️ CRADLE MOUNTAIN

Explore the dramatic alpine landscapes of Cradle Mountain National Park, including Dove Lake and its iconic boatshed—one of Tasmania’s most recognisable photographic scenes.

🌿 MOUNT FIELD

Photograph ancient rainforest, moss-covered pathways and flowing water at Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Lady Barron Falls.

🌊 BAY OF FIRES

Discover the brilliant white beaches, turquoise water and orange-lichen-covered rocks of Tasmania’s northeast coast, including Binalong Bay, Skeleton Bay and Cosy Corner.

💧 LIFFEY FALLS

Create atmospheric woodland and long-exposure images among the forest and cascading waters of this beautiful natural setting.

⚓ HOBART WATERFRONT

Begin the journey by photographing the character, colour and maritime atmosphere of Tasmania’s historic capital.

Throughout the workshop, you’ll explore long-exposure techniques, coastal photography and creative approaches to capturing Tasmania’s dramatic landscapes—all with personalised guidance from John Armytage and Craig Williams.

Our itinerary remains flexible so we can respond to Tasmania’s changing weather, light and local conditions. This gives us the best possible chance of being in the right place when the landscape comes alive.

Our days are shaped around the landscape and conditions. We’ll photograph during the beautiful light of sunrise and sunset, while using the quieter daytime hours to explore, travel, rest and develop new skills.

💻 IMAGE REVIEW & EDITING

Throughout the workshop, there will be opportunities to review your photographs and take part in Lightroom editing sessions. These relaxed sessions will help you assess your images, improve your processing and bring your creative vision to life.

John Armytage is a professional landscape photographer based in Port Macquarie, NSW, and the founder of John Armytage Photography.

He specialises in leading small-group landscape photography workshops throughout Australia and internationally, combining practical tuition with thoughtfully planned photographic experiences in remarkable locations.

John’s relaxed and supportive teaching style helps photographers better understand their cameras, strengthen their compositions and develop greater confidence in the field.

🏔️ CRAIG WILLIAMS

Craig Williams is an experienced landscape photographer and workshop leader who has travelled extensively, photographing dramatic landscapes across Australia and beyond.

Craig brings a wealth of photographic knowledge, field experience and creative insight to the workshop. His approachable guidance helps photographers refine their technique, develop their visual style and make the most of every location.

Please Note

At John Armytage Photography, our priority is to provide you with the best possible photography experience while ensuring the safety, comfort and enjoyment of every participant.

From time to time, weather, tides, road conditions or other circumstances beyond our control may require adjustments to the itinerary, photography locations, accommodation, dining venues or schedule. Any changes will always be made in the best interests of the group and to maximise your photographic opportunities.

Cancellations & Refunds

If you need to cancel your booking, please notify us in writing via email as soon as possible.

Payments are refundable up to 60 days prior to the workshop commencement date.

Unfortunately, refunds cannot be provided within 60 days of departure unless your place can be filled by another participant.

We strongly recommend that all participants take out comprehensive travel insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances.

Participant Responsibilities

Participants are responsible for arranging:

Travel to and from the workshop (unless otherwise stated)
Personal travel insurance
Medical insurance (where applicable)
Any personal expenses not included in the workshop package

Participants are also responsible for ensuring they have a reasonable level of fitness suitable for the workshop and for taking appropriate care of their personal belongings and photographic equipment.

John Armytage Photography accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, damage, personal injury or additional travel expenses incurred during the workshop.

Workshop Cancellation

In the unlikely event that John Armytage Photography is required to cancel a workshop, all monies paid directly to us will be refunded in full.

While we will always endeavour to provide as much notice as possible, we cannot accept responsibility for any third-party costs incurred by participants, including flights, accommodation, travel arrangements or other associated bookings. For this reason, comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended.
