Celebrate autumn in the New England Tablelands on a four-day, three-night photography and culinary retreat led by award-winning photographers John Armytage and Craig Williams.
Photograph vibrant foliage, misty mornings and atmospheric country landscapes while developing your skills in a relaxed, supportive environment. Along the way, you’ll also have time to enjoy the flavours and hospitality that make this region so memorable.

Timed for the heart of autumn, this workshop reveals the New England Tablelands at their most atmospheric.
Photograph tree-lined avenues, historic chapels, rural landscapes and dramatic waterfalls surrounded by rich reds, burnt oranges and golden foliage. Each location is carefully selected to offer variety while keeping travel distances comfortable and the pace relaxed.

🧥 AUTUMN CONDITIONS
Mornings and evenings in the New England Tablelands can be chilly, so warm clothing is essential.
Locations and timing may change to make the most of the weather, light and seasonal conditions.
PHOTOGRAPHY, FOOD & GOOD COMPANY
Photography is at the heart of this retreat, but the experience extends well beyond the camera.
Breakfasts and dinners are planned at carefully selected local restaurants and cafés, giving you the opportunity to enjoy New England’s country hospitality with a small group of like-minded photographers. Meals are paid for individually, while lunches remain flexible so we can make the most of the light and our time in the field.
Evenings offer a relaxed opportunity to share stories, review images and reflect on the day’s photography.

Three nights’ twin-share accommodation at Alluna Motel, Armidale.

🔒 DEPOSIT
A $500 AUD deposit secures your place. The deposit is refundable until 60 days before the workshop, or if your place is subsequently filled.

Meals, travel and medical insurance, and transport to, from and during the workshop are not included.
ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

Please arrive at Alluna Motel, Armidale, by 2:00 pm on Thursday, 29 April 2027.
📍 DEPARTURE
The workshop concludes after 10:00 am on Sunday, 2 May 2027.

Important Information
Please Note
At John Armytage Photography, our priority is to provide you with the best possible photography experience while ensuring the safety, comfort and enjoyment of every participant.
From time to time, weather, tides, road conditions or other circumstances beyond our control may require adjustments to the itinerary, photography locations, accommodation, dining venues or schedule. Any changes will always be made in the best interests of the group and to maximise your photographic opportunities.
Cancellations & Refunds
If you need to cancel your booking, please notify us in writing via email as soon as possible.
Payments are refundable up to 60 days prior to the workshop commencement date.
Unfortunately, refunds cannot be provided within 60 days of departure unless your place can be filled by another participant.
We strongly recommend that all participants take out comprehensive travel insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances.
Participant Responsibilities
Participants are responsible for arranging:
Travel to and from the workshop (unless otherwise stated)
Personal travel insurance
Medical insurance (where applicable)
Any personal expenses not included in the workshop package
Participants are also responsible for ensuring they have a reasonable level of fitness suitable for the workshop and for taking appropriate care of their personal belongings and photographic equipment.
John Armytage Photography accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, damage, personal injury or additional travel expenses incurred during the workshop.
Workshop Cancellation
In the unlikely event that John Armytage Photography is required to cancel a workshop, all monies paid directly to us will be refunded in full.
While we will always endeavour to provide as much notice as possible, we cannot accept responsibility for any third-party costs incurred by participants, including flights, accommodation, travel arrangements or other associated bookings. For this reason, comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended.
