MELBOURNE 2026

Street Photography & Culinary Workshop Tour

12–15 November 2026

Four inspiring days photographing—and tasting—the heart of Melbourne.

Explore Melbourne’s laneways, architecture, markets and vibrant street life with professional photographers John Armytage and Craig Williams.

4 days / 3 nights · Maximum 8 participants · Only 7 places available

Photograph the Character of Melbourne

Melbourne is made for street photography.

Its colourful laneways, heritage arcades, busy markets, modern architecture and iconic trams create photographic opportunities around almost every corner.

Join us for an immersive four-day workshop combining street photography, creative tuition and Melbourne’s celebrated culinary culture.

We will explore the city on foot, observing the people, places and fleeting moments that give Melbourne its unique character. You will learn to recognise stronger compositions, anticipate decisive moments and create photographs that tell a more engaging story.

Throughout the workshop, John and Craig will help you develop your skills in:

  • Street photography and visual storytelling

  • Composition in busy urban environments

  • Photographing people naturally and respectfully

  • Capturing movement and decisive moments

  • Working with available light, shadows and reflections

  • Using architecture, colour and layers creatively

  • Becoming more confident when photographing in public

  • Developing your personal photographic style

The workshop is suitable for photographers of all experience levels. Tuition will be practical, supportive and adapted to the needs of the group.

You don’t need a DSLR or mirrorless camera to participate. If your smartphone is your preferred camera, that is perfectly fine—the best camera is the one you have with you. John and Craig will help you make the most of whichever camera you choose to bring.

Everything Within Easy Reach

Your workshop includes three nights’ accommodation in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.

Our central location gives us an ideal base from which to explore the city. Melbourne’s laneways, cafés, restaurants, arcades, riverfront, architecture and street life are all within easy reach.

With so much accessible on foot, we can spend more time experiencing and photographing Melbourne and less time travelling between locations.

Workshop Schedule

Arrival: Thursday, 12 November 2026
Hotel check-in is available after 2:00 pm.

Workshop: Thursday, 12 November to Sunday, 15 November 2026

Departure: Sunday, 15 November 2026
Hotel check-out is required by 10:00 am.

The detailed daily itinerary will remain flexible so we can respond to the light, weather and street activity during the workshop.

Throughout the workshop, you will be guided by two experienced professional photographers: John Armytage and Craig Williams.

With two workshop leaders and a maximum of only eight participants, you will receive plenty of individual attention and practical guidance in the field.

John and Craig will work alongside you, helping you identify photographic opportunities, refine your compositions and become more confident when photographing the life of the city.

The small-group format creates a relaxed and supportive environment in which you can ask questions, experiment with new techniques and learn at your own pace.
